THE GAME OF LOVE AND CHANCE | Mario | London Classic Theatre/Michael Cabot |
|
|
Richard Stemp (as
Mario, the brother) appeared to have had a great time in this role, camp
enough to convey that wonderful fun factor on the developing situation
and happy to join in the continuation of the game. Richard Stemp made
the most of his role as Sylvia's brother, the elegant dandy, Mario, who
teases his sister and her suitor on his father's instructions, and showed
great style when required to woo with a deadpan expression. [I'm not entirely
sure what this means! RS] Richard Stemp, as
a magnificently camp Mario, and Brian Douglas as Sylvia's father Orgon,
provided strong support. But it was Richard
Stemp who stole the show as the foppish Mario, bringing home the laughs
just by sucking in his cheeks. |
