This was a real challenge – a one-man show based on Gericault’s painting of the same name, to be performed at Tate Britain in front of a 19th century replica of the original. It was based on the first survivors account of the shipwreck itself published in The Times on September 11 (yes…) 1816, and I added an introduction to put this into context. It’s a hugely emotional piece, and as yet I’ve only done it once – but would like to find a suitable context to do it again!
